As member of the BHA Hypnotherapy Association we are bound by their code of ethics. These can be found on their website www.thehypnotherapyassociation.co.uk. However, we have written our own to show the areas that are important to us and what we believe in.

 

We undertake:

· To provide treatment consistent with a duty of care and within our knowledge, competence and experience

· To ensure that as practitioners we are continually increasing our knowledge base and undergoing consultation

· To be respectful towards our clients and to have their best interests in mind at all times

· To be open and honest with our clients

· To produce programmes that are specifically designed for each client to meet their individual needs

· To maintain confidentiality during and after contact, unless there is an indication of possible serious harm to self or others

· To take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the client and those accompanying them

· To require children (under 16 years of age) to have a parent/guardian present for at least the first meeting/consultation

· To offer female clients the opportunity to see a female Hypnotherapist

· To advise clients to first consult their GP regarding any condition which may have a physical basis or cause

· To ensure sessions are free from interruption

· To hold Public Liability and Treatment Risk insurance, and to have the relevant documents available for inspection

· To complete a client’s therapy in the minimum number of sessions necessary

· As far as possible, to be aware of other therapies/specialisms that may benefit the client, and to refer on as appropriate

· To refer the client to another Hypnotherapist if this is in their best interests

· To offer every client a free initial consultation of up to one hour

· To only record sessions for the benefit of the client and with their permission. The only copy being given to the client for their own use

· To keep all records confidential and safe; all are destroyed within three years of the last client contact

· To take account of a client’s race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability and other relevant factors in our work

· To use plain English
